We renamed our Hefeweizen in honor of Wilbur the Saint Bernard, who became the latest addition to the Bayern Family. We met Wilbur during a visit at the local Humane Society in their new facility on Hwy 93 South in Missoula, MT. At an impressive 155 lbs and only 10 months of age, his rambunctious personality and his colossal appearance caught our hearts at once. He was a stray and ended up at the pound.

We could not help but to adopt him and give him a loving home. Through contact with the St. Bernard Rescue Foundation we learned the heartbreaking facts that giant breed dogs, especially St. Bernards, more often end up in rescues or shelters when compared to other breeds. Their owners often become overwhelmed by the fact that the cute little "Beethoven" puppy turns into Jumbo and does not fit in the household anymore. They often end up as strays, just like Wilbur, or even worse, their gentle nature makes them prone to abuse.

So at Bayern we decided to give those gentle giants, who often have to endure so much hardship, a helping hand and changed our Hefeweizen label to St. Wilbur Weizen. We will pledge a portion of all the St. Wilbur merchandise to the St. Bernard rescue foundation.

We ask you to look this foundation up at their web site under www.saintrescue.org and hope that you might be able to help with time, money, or better yet, are able to adopt one of those great, loving dogs.

Just remember, HE MAY BE A SAINT, BUT HE'S NO ANGEL!
